Cape Ride is done!

Cape Ride is over - thank God. I really shouldn't say it like that because it was a great thing we did. But it was hard work and definitely didn't pan out the way we expected. However, we did raise a lot of money for The Hall's Steps Foundation and Fisher House and we did have a great (kind of) time on the ride. A few things did put a damper on it though...such as having to reschedule so most everyone couldn't actually make the ride, the wind blew us sideways for 40 miles, and freezing my ass of in Provincetown. However, we did it - and that's what counts! Oh! And I got to sleep in a yurt for the first time - fantastic fun. Even though Chris and I had to sleep under 2 sleeping bags to avoid frostbite in the 40 degree East Coast weather, that was pretty hilarious. Apparently a "yurt" is a Northeast thing, so I added a pic for those who read my blog from other parts of the world. It's basically a wooden igloo. Ours had a wooden walkway/porch thing that l...

Train day, Rain Day

All things considered - I'm talking weather wise - training this week has been pretty good! Even though it's been 50 and rainy I've still managed to sneak in some bike rides and runs in between heavy rain showers, and I only got caught once! It was actually pretty funny. On Monday Chris and I headed out to the Quabbin to get some serious hill repeats in - and I mean serious. The climb to the top of the hill at the Quabbin usually takes well over ten minutes to get to and at my hardest I'm climbing around 9 mph. Not saying I'm the best hill climber but I'm pretty decent - it's definitely hard. We usally do about 2 or 3 of them and then hit it hard on the 7 mile ride home. This time it was drizzling when we got to the hill, raining harder on the way up, and by the time we were heading down it was coming down in sheets. We literally biked home in flood waters and showers. There was nothing we could do but laugh! By the time we got home it looked like we had jum...

summer 2011

Summer!!!! I don't think I've ever been so excited for a summer to come, and as fast as this one snuck up on me, I'm so glad it's here. I even finished off with a decent GPA! So far I have a 3.5 with 2 grades in the system - so we'll see. I somehow pulled a 95 on my cognitive final out of my butt so that raised my B- that I had a B+ - WIN. And I scraped by clinical with an A-...so now I just have my nutrition grade (I'm pretty sure I have a 96% in that class, what a joke.) and my LX grade - which she already told me is a B+ (Dropped down from an A- with the final - NUTS. Maybe she'll take pity on me and bump me back up...I was a great student...totally interested in everything she had to say and absolutely NEVER rolled my eyes or made fun of her...not. So maybe I deserve the B+...) Anyway. All in all it was a very hard, but very great semester - probably the best one I've had at BU. I am absolutely in love with my suitemates - I'm so sad to see them ...

Done Waiting

Wait for the boy who pursues you, the one who will make an moment like grocery shopping or doing homework seem exraordinary, the kind of boy who brings out the best in you and makes you want to be a better person. Wait for the boy who will be your best friend - the one who will drop everything to be with you no matter the time of day the night no matter what he's doing or how far away you are. Wait for the one who will spend all night in the ER waiting room for you, tutor you in math, have food waiting after long runs, hang around to walk you home after your classes, and drive hours multiple times a week to come pick you up because he knows you're happier out of the city. Wait for the one who will dance with you while making dinner, let you sing musicals in the car, and even though he despises your favorite TV show, watches it anyway so he can see you get excited. Wait for the boy who never raises his voice, never gets frustrated when you're grumpy, and never lets you forge...

A letter to the girls

Nothing against my fellow girls but... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!? Just because the weather is above 55 degrees does not mean you can go sporting off every single inch of your legs, and ass, I might add, to the entire BU population and greater Boston area. I have seen more butts in the past week than I ever cared to see in my life. Maybe the tags on the clothing at forever21 and h&m need to blatantly say "This is a shirt. Wear with pants." and "This is a dress, wear with underwear" on them but my God. A shirt is not, and will never be, a dress. So stop pretending is. No I don't care that you hit the fitrec every day to get "summer ready"...it's still not a dress. I know your Perfect Tan looks great. But it's still not a dress. Buy pants. Buy shorts. Ones that are not underwear. Same goes with shirts - if I see one more nipple popping out I'm going to start handing out pasties. I wore shorts and a tank top today and I felt like a nun walking...

My Knight in Riding Armor

If you pay $2,500 for a bike wouldn't you think you shouldn't be on the side of the road pulling metal chunks off of it? So did I. Yesterday Chris and I were having an AWESOME ride. It was warm (for Boston standards), minimal wind (for Boston standards) and people on the roads were being polite (again...for Boston standards) it wasn't perfect but for the first long ride out of the year, I was taking it. I even hit 37 mph on a down hill - each time I ride I hit a new record! It all came to a screeching, literally, stop when my chain falls off, gets jammed between my chain stay and sprocket, and won't move. The best part was I was on an uphill going about 5 mph. Hmmm...sounds familiar...like maybe the exact same thing that happened at Buckman, Quakerman, AND Mightyman. So I get off and realize there is literally a CHUNK of metal, aluminum to be exact, that is bent and it's hitting my sprocket, not letting it move without becoming jammed. Ok I didn't realize this, ...
