Who woulda thunk that it takes SO much equipment to train? What is the world coming to when in order to get in peak athletic shape, something that is completely physical, you have to jump through a billion technological hoops. I'm gearing up to go on a nice, maybe 45 mile ride today and I feel like I'm wearing Walmart, complete with a pharmacy and tech department. 2 water bottles? check. Aero bars? check. Saddle bag? check. Heart rate watch? check. Heart rate monitor? check. Aerodynamic spandex? check. Bike computer? Check. Extra tube? check. Multi-tool? Check. Cadence monitor? check. Cell phone? check. ID? Check. Driver's license? check. Money? Check. Sunglasses? Check. Helmet? CHeck. IPod? Check. For paying $500 extra for a bike that weights 1.5 less, I sure do carry a lot of extra shit with me. I think just one day I'm going to cycle just the doctor and me, no extra techie junk. But then again...how would i monitor my heart rate!? Or MPH!? Or cadence!? What if I bre...
