This Monday is Definitely a Monday

I look like I have conjunctivitis. My eye has been red for the past two days - for TWO DAYS I have been walking around with a bright red, watering eye. Not like that's not the most attractive thing I've ever seen in my life. I was sent home an hour early from work because my boss said it hurt to look at it and it scared the customers. Gee whiz, thanks for the support Brooke! Actually that was probably a blessing because it's now 1 am and I'm still writing about, you guessed it, China currency policy. ...but the whole 1 am thing is probably because I can't concentrate and, well, I'm blogging. So in addition to the fact that I got a sick cycling burn on my shoulder that would put an Irishmen in the Caribbean to shame and my water bottle had a hint of rasberry vodka/Tropicana strawberry mango taste to it because a poor decision on my part last week, my cycle today was sub-par. For some reason I'm STILL sore from cycling with Kipp over the weekend (but maybe th...

Slacking...

In my effort to procrastinate on figuring out China - seems to be a common thing to do in the USA- Oh good listen to me I'm making semi political/economic jokes...who am I becoming? Though I DID stumble across one funny one the other day: "Democrats were quick to point out that President Bush's budget creates a 1 trillion dollar deficit. The White House quickly responded with 'Hey, look over there, it's Saddam Hussein.'" —Craig Kilborn Okay enough of this madness, and no I'm not getting back to researching the growing coastal and rural divergence in China. i just wanted to comment that in January I made a check list of things to do this year..and I've only done ONE. I went to the Boston Aquarium. I gotta pick up the pace here. I still have to... -Finish A Walk in the Woods -Run 1/2 marathon -Knit a scarf -Eat a piece of pizza without feeling guilty -Take a tour of the USS Constitution -Go to the Boston Aquarium -Complete a second century ride in le...

Bitten

This is for a certain girl in Boston who understands another certain girl =) A friend and I were in one of those really great conversations where you get so excited to say everything on your mind you both start jumping up and down and screaming. Then I realized we were both screaming in the middle of West Campus Dining hall and that's mildly embarrassing, though not entirely uncommon. I've done worse...like Marathon Monday last year when I ate all the icing and m&ms in the dessert area...angry Asians are the worst Asians. Or the time Al Anya B and I spent 3 hours at Sunday brunch still drunk, making asses of ourselves as we knocked over chairs, spun in circles, and laughed so hard we cried...then all pretty much passed out at the table. Or when B dropped an entire stack of plates in the middle of dinner rush, screamed, " I CAN"T EVEN DEAL WITH THIS ANYMORE!" and left me to deal with it. Everyone thought I dropped the plates. I did not drop the plates. I have...

Feels like Sunday

You know what's a sure fire way to guarantee your night is going to be ridiculous? Not even thinking about leaving your dorm until past 11, then not actually leaving until after midnight. One minute I'm perfectly comfortable in my flannel sweatpants, sipping my Tropicana Strawberry/Mango juice, chatting with my girl Rach, and watching one of my all time favorite movies, Pretty Woman, and then the next minute I find myself throwing back shots in four inch stilettos and dancing to BedRock. How does this happen? From what I can remember the night started with a cab ride to Harvard, followed by flirting with the bouncer to the OWL to get in, followed by getting hit on by pretentious Harvard boys who probably all stand on the smaller side of the bell curve - if you know what I mean. Quickly thereafter I waited in a bathroom line, got groped by some random girl who deemed me her new best friend, judged some awkward drunk freshman girls, almost climbed a tree, shot dirty looks to a be...

Hanger Mouth

Today is the first day of 2010 that I literally have, "hanger mouth" - as my dearest darlingest roomie calls it. Hanger Mouth is that smile you get when you literally. can't. stop. smiling. The only thing that could wipe the smile off my face right now is if I got hit by a car..again. But that's highly unlikely, because getting hit by 3 cars in one week is just a ridiculous and altogether silly idea. And even then I probably would STILL smile because in that case I would officially hold the record in my friends for getting hit by the most cars. And I love records. So because I do NOT having a broken ankle - as Chris and I convinced Colin and Dave.. It's absolutely gorgeous out, and I mean stunning. Anya and I describe days like this as, "ice coffee day." I went for a 45 mile cycle with Kip this morning which was sick, he really pushed my pace even though I was really sore from my 3 workouts yesterday. But I did wall-sits yesterday and my ass hurts so mu...

Happy Thursday!

My OrThOdicS aRe iN!!! Which means I can start training for running...for my race...that is exactly 16 days from today. This is not a big deal, I can handle this. I have an extremely high tolerance for pain so as long as I'm not absolutely dying I can push through the run if I'm just tired. ...right? I'm just worried. I'm worried I'm going to get to Texas and realize I undertrained. I'm worried that I've been working my ass off since October to just get down there and suck on the run. I'm worried I won't be fast enough. Or that I'll be disappointed. Or that my team will be disappointed. I just want this so bad and I've worked so hard all semester, barely keeping my head above water. I'm running on no sleep, I live off coffee, I don't even have time to think anymore. Anytime I sit down to just watch a movie I feel guilty because I know I should be doing homework or training or going to the Lab...it sucks living like this, I don't s...
