Quick blog in between Anatomy and Physiology Chapters - I'm learning about Phonation - some things in life NEVER get boring..especially learning all the ins and outs of the thyropharyngeus and the cricopharygeus muscles =) Those elevate the larynx...in case you were wondering.
Spoiler alert! Here's something for all your Jeopardy fans: Did you know the hyoid bone is the ONLY bone in the body not attached to another bone?
Anyway, not that that's out of my system. Actually it should be getting INTO my system, big exam one week and two days from today! Then it's OFFICIALLY summer. And I mean OFFICIALLY...besides working at the lab and CS and racing...
Oh the woes of being a workaholic.
And I really am, when I'm not working, I feel guilty that I'm not. And when I am, I just want to be working on something else other than what I'm working on. I have a REAL problem just sitting and staring at a wall or reading a magazine or napping - everything seems to be in short durations so I can be onto the next thing. Like I said, triathlon is a lifestyle: you're always onto the next thing after the fastest possible transition.
And that's how I've been all through college. I can't stand to be bored for longer than twenty minutes before I'm asking myself what else I can do. To-do list after to-do list cover my desks and fill the insides of my purses. I love lines that cross out objectives and check marks that each pose as a little finish line for a task I completed. Sometimes I write something down I've already done, just to cross it off in a thick permanent marker.
It's funny, for as adventurous as I am, I sure do love to plan my spontaneity.
Maybe one day I'll learn to sit for a bit and actually watch a cloud change shape or meander the streets of Boston instead of power walking over them...but, until then....back to the oblique arytenoid.
love love love,
me
