Today's "IF"

So IF I were to found a fundraiser... Oh wait! I did! It's called CapeRide. It's a 130 mile bike ride from Sandwich, MA to Provincetown, mA and back...for those who are not from New England...that's the length of Cape Cod and back. Yessiree I'm riding the length of a peninsula and back - what a sweat! Why you ask? Well first of all, it's a blast. I love the burning, aching, sore, numb, jello -legged feeling I get around mile 70 and the realization I have 50 more miles of pedaling. I love being dehydrated, malnourished, and starving for 6 hours. I love dodging cars, potholes, dog packs, and fainting. I love pedaling up hills just to realize there's no downhill. I love the excitement of turning around expecting a tailwind only to find another headwind. I love the back aches, the shaking fingers, and the cramped up calves. In fact, I love it SO much I'm willing to go out of my way to raise money to do it! This year I'm teaming up with 20 other riders to do ...

To You

Happy month-a- versary to the love of my life Christopher :) Alright, so month-a-versaries aren't that big of a deal. In fact, I make fun of people who make a big deal of them. "Wow! You've managed to not break up for 2 months! Congratulations!" Come to me in 5 years when you're still together, then we'll talk. But this is different and I'll tell you why. From the get-go Chris and I have been absolutely 100% inseparable, literally. It's almost verging on unhealthy. And no matter how much time we spend together, we can always spend more. And I'm always sad to see him go, even though I know I'll see him again less than a few hours. The thought of going more than 12 hours without seeing him is completely foreign to me - except when he went to field training and that was the absolute depths of hell. It made me question how I ever got along before I knew him...what did I do for adventure? Who did I talk to about the weird things I think about?...

wow.

Sweeeeeet Jesus. THE Sara Hall e-mailed me back and wants to help out in any way she can with the Cape Ride. Trying not to shriek too loud. That's a lie. FREAKING OUT!!!! love love love, me

Another Week

For God sakes how much snow can one city get. The snow banks are above my head - literally. When I prayed for snow I meant I just wanted enough to make a decent snow man, maybe a snow fort, dabble in some XC skiing...I didn't want to drown in it. That's the last time I wish for a weather change. There's a been a "severe" snow storm every week since I've bee back. Welcome to Boston. On the upside, it's sunny! I think they call it "arctic sunshine." Sounds about right. Nothing like getting sun burned and wind burned while slipping on ice and mountain goat-ing over snow banks. So the last week has been iffy. I'm still fighting off a cold and still convinced I can "sweat it out" by keeping up my regular sched of working out 2 to 3 hours a day. I'm pretty sure last night's spin session did it in. I woke up without the sniffles! Except now it's a cough - hm. I'm not sure which is worse of the two evils... In other news. Th...

Head Cold

Today I woke up with a really bad sore throat/head cold...this puts a damper on my awesome training week. At 6:40 am I dragged myself out of bed only because Chris was already at the pool waiting for me. After gargling salt water, sucking on a couch drop, and sitting on my bed sniffling for ten minutes I finally shuffled through the snow to Fitrec and did a wimpy 1,600m swim. The combination of chlorine, goggles that don't fit, and flip turns made everything worse. I went to class and now it's one and I'm back in bed... From the looks of it Track tonight is going to be a no-go. But last night we had an awesome, really hard 3,200m swim workout. And I ran on the treadmill before that - all felt good. The day before that I did hill repeats on Summit Ave which is KILLER. My legs still feel like jello. But I'm getting speed back and it's awesome to feel bummed that I can't train. I took some dayquil, ate some oranges, and I'm drinking lots of fluids so hopefully ...
