My future dog

Yesterday while running in the park I ran into this guy walking (and I am not lying or exaggerating) the CUTEST dog I have ever seen in my life. I ended up talking to him for fifteen minutes just so I could pet his dog - and I was even monitoring my heart rate so it's a big deal to just stop like that and let it go back to normal, but I couldn't help it. It's called a Shibu Inu, and I cannot wait to get one. How can you not absolutely fall in love with this dog??? It looks like a little fox =)

High school love

Today I participated in the high school version of Show and Tell - my little brother brought me into his religion class to discuss college with the Junior boys. Besides being the only girl in an all boy's Catholic School, the experience wasn't too scarring...besides being stared down until I got within the ten feet range, then I noticed no one made eye contact with me. I did get asked to Prom though - cute! I almost said yes...I want to go to prom! I want to have an excuse to wear a dress (Besides military ball...yeesh.) and do my hair and nails and take pictures. And I want to slow dance. I have no excuse to slow dance anymore and that's my absolute favorite. A lot of people hate it because it can be awkward but luckily all my dates in HS were EXCELLENT dancers and I got to be the girl spinning and dipping on the dance floor...ahhh so much fun. I would give anything just for one Michael Buble song on a high school dance floor. I really wish I would have soaked up the whol...

Tuesday is a good day

Mom told me today having me home is like having another teenage boy. List of complaints: 1. I'm always asleep 2. I disappear for long periods of time 3. Suddenly all the food is gone 4. There's mud tracked all over the hallways 5. Instant and random wrestling matches break out 6. The laundry odor has significantly increased - excuse me, this is because running. 7. My brother's clothes have mysteriously gone missing (I like his sweatpants.) 8. I always talk about girls - what? Al, Anya, and B are important... 9. The XBox is turned on again 10. "Angry music" thumps through the walls of my room - ...also known as rap. My latest obsession? The song, "Nasty girl" by Nitty - it's catchy! I love being home, I really need to be here more often. My one complaint about this break is having to be in and out of appointments everyday. Since I'm only home twice a year or so, I get to see all the doctors in one week. But as long as there's nothing wrong it...

I'm lucky I know, but I wanna go home

The thing I love about home most is whenever I come back, even if I've been gone for five months - or last year when I was gone for six- no matter what, it feels as though I never left at all. That's what defines home, at least for me. It's the place where you feel comfortable and feel as though you belong no matter how long you've been away. As soon as I walked in the door I noticed it smells the same. And not even smells the same, it feels the same - as in the energy thing. It's the same temperature - cool enough to wear a hoodie and sweatpants inside but not so cold that you're uncomfortable when you step out of the shower. The light streams through the family room windows the same. My mom's foot steps echo down the hallway in the same pitch. My favorite spot on the couch still collapses in, and my overstuffed pillows still provide the perfect back rest. When my dad opens and closes the back door it still gets stuck in the same spot, causing him to have ...

Sometimes the only thing words do is get in the way

Spiders don't bother me one bit. Neither do bugs. I've been known to chase after snakes and pick them up to freak campers out. I love horror films and haunted houses - even though I scream my head off. Strangers don't bother me. I'll walk home from a frat party through Allston by myself at 1 am. I have no fear of being alone. I love a good interview. Flying down a hill at 35 mph with nothing but a 17 lbs. piece of aluminum between me and the asphalt is my favorite. I love heights, big buildings, and standing on the glass that hangs off the Sears tower building. I've jumped off a boat into the ocean with manatees and swam after sting rays in the bay. Crowds don't give me sweaty palms and I've definitely never had to picture anyone naked. I'll eat anything anyone puts in front of me. The first time I cycled I went right down in aero position. I was the first one to stand on the deck of the sunken boat in the middle of Lake Michigan. But if you ask me to be...

Okay so it's not H1N1 but it still hurts

I suppose one up-side to getting the flu (or whatever I have) is having absolutely no excuse to not sit down and write my two 10+ page papers due in the next week. Training cannot possibly get in the way because there is absolutely no way I can even think about running, swimming, or cycling...considering it took me half an hour of huffing and puffing to pick three shirts off my floor and make my bed (by the way, that very event made it as number one on my Reasons to Never Let Myself Become Obese list) So, naturally, I'm blogging. Although all weekend I was fighting the urge to projectile vomit everywhere and every time I stood up it felt like I was on a carnival ride, it was actually a pretty good and I fought off the damn illness like a champ. Like I've said before, I have this incredible ability to will myself better. Excessive amounts of Motrin, Pepto, and Tums may have had something to do with it, though. It all started Friday with me being completely normal one minute, the...
