Tri Team

So I'm COMPLETELY stoked because I'm the new Vice President of Triathlon team! Yay! It's going to be a lot of work coordinating things but I really want to make this next year great. I'm so excited for everything to come next semester! I want more team bonding, practice participation, sponsorships, fund raising, workshops, and members. Max is president, Chris is secretary, and Meg is treasurer. It's a really great team and I think this year is going to be awesome. I can't wait to see what we can do. love love love, me

Watches and Weather

Boston weather is MOST confusing. Take for instance now. It's 51, so it's not freezing but not exactly t-shirt weather. It's overcast, but at the same time it's bright. Humidity is 84% but it doesn't look even mildly wet out. And I'm sure in about 20 minutes it'll either be a gorgeous, sunny day or all hell will break loose and it'll be freezing and torrential downpouring. And this week it's supposed to be sunny and 50-something, but last year at this time it was snow storming. This weekend at Chris' I ran in shorts and a t-shirt, and wished I wore a tank top. It felt like summer - in mid November! The GOOD news is, for the marathon it's supposed to be sunny and 50 again - perfect! The bad news is, that means at 6 am when I get there I'm going to be balls freezing but half way through I'm going to be dying of heat. What a predicament. Maybe I'll just buy cheap long sleeve shirts and shed them as I run. In other news, more than any...

Home Things

It's amazing what one weekend at home can do. Well, not my home. But home away from home - aka Belchertown. I'm pretty much treated as family in the Tommila household, right down to fighting with Mikey and Hunter, helping myself to the kitchen and Louise pulling knots out of my hair. I don't even get rights to the TV remote, as I found out today when Craig turned off Harry Potter and flipped it back to football - damn. All guest rights were kaput over the summer when I was there 3 days out of the week for 2 months. Now it's assumed that when Chris goes home, I go home. But getting out of the city is always a good thing, it's so relaxing to just sit in a home and go running in the country and eat food not cooked for the masses. I just love the whole family feel - it's definitely something I took for granted when I was around my own family. Speaking of my own family - ten days until I go home! And ten days 'til Christopher meets the clan! We're definitely ...

Summits within reach

Don't look now...but I think things are turning around! Today I got my language acquisition exam back, and I got a 99% and the professor told me I got the highest grade in the class. Suddenly staying in for the most of Halloween weekend doesn't seem so bad...maybe even worth it? I think the biggest problem I've had with this semester and why I feel down a lot is I feel like I'm working so hard and sacrificing so much and not getting anything out of it. I mean who wants to work their butt off and not see any results? It's been a huge uphill climb, but suddenly I see the summit and it's closer than I thought it was. I'm going to Belchertown this weekend so visit adopted east coast family, the marathon will be here soon and I'll see how far I've come in my training, I get to go home in 2 weeks so I can see my best friends and my family, I can't wait to move in with Nina and decorate our common room with random city things and owls, and then in a mer...

Time Line

11 Days until the marathon! 14 Days until I go home! And I'm finished with my audiology exam and my Language quiz, whew! So I'm pretty much done until after break except for one more quiz next week. That doesn't mean I get to relax though...but it's less time-crunched stress. Now I just have to start studying for finals in December! Only one month until Christmas break - crazy. I need to find something to do over Christmas break...maybe I'll call the YMCA to see if I can get rehired, I only worked there 3 years ago... So until Thanksgiving break it's just work and running and studying =) Time to slack off a little so I can get back to sanity. love love love, me
