20 miles stronger

Yesterday was the peak of my marathon training - finally. I pushed off my 20 mile run as long as possible, literally to the last minute. You're supposed to peak at around 20 miles three weeks before your race, I did mine 2 weeks before, oops! In the end though I think it was better because taking a week off for my wisdom teeth really took a lot of training time away and I struggled through my 6 mile run last week. But this one went great! I did my first 14 miles at around or under a 9:30 minute/mile, which is faster than my half marathon time. It felt really good to get a PR in something - especially when my 5 and 10k times have been higher than last year. Miles 15-17 went okay but I hovered around a 10 minute/mile, and then mile 18-20 I was around an 11 minute, I really lost momentum fast. But then again I hardly drank any water during it and only brought a 100 calorie candy bar with me. During the marathon I'm going to eat a lot of GU and drink a lot so it will be much better...

Moles

So it's been a while...I tend to blog more when I have exams coming up :) That way I feel mildly productive, but am still technically procrastinating. So it's November. Funny how time flies whether you're having fun or not, in this case...not. This year has been, well, it's certainly been. You know those games at the arcade with the moles? The ones where you have the hammer and you smack down the mole that pops up, and before you can smack down one fully another one pops up? And you're in a state of extreme panic and anticipation the entire minute of the game? And you can't think or look at your score, you just keep moving. That's how I felt this semester. Before I can hit one mole down, another one pops up. Only it doesn't last 60 seconds, it's constant and it's lasted 3 months. As soon as I get over and take care of one mole, another one burrows up. Between having the worst Triathlon season of my life- full of disappointments, injuries, quittin...

Rain Rain

You know, maybe before I had the absolute genius idea of moving to the Eastcoast, where some of the harshest weather conditions in America abide, I would at least have the grain of common sense to buy a water proof jacket. For the past 3 days it has been nothing but teardrops from heaven - tons and tons of droplets. I have gone through every single winter/fall/spring coat I have, and halfway through every single of my walks I get that unpleasant dampness that goes straight to my bones in this frigid Boston weather. And I had the other awesome idea of getting rid of my rain boots after Freshman year - when Boston conveniently had a dry spell. Don't worry, it was saving up for the past 2 years when it all came down on me. Now my Mizunos are soaked through too. I feel a cold coming through.
Too busy to blog! I'll get back when I have a minute... In the mean time my days look like this: Triathlon, eat, class, class, class, eat, triathlon, work, lab, sleep, eat, triathlon, study, study, study... And my weekends look like this: Travel, Triathlon, Travel, Sleep, Triathlon, Study, Study Study... Livin' the good life =) love love love, me

Heat of Summer is Wearing Off

It's pretty hard to train when you sweat the mere THOUGHT of being outside. I dont' think Boston has ever been so hot - and that includes this summer's heat wave. I was going to go for a short ride today, just to get Mac in the fresh air and test out my new bike computer, but I couldn't. I ended up going to the Comm Ave fair with B and Davis, then going back to the suite and napping/uploading pics/hanging out with my roomie. And even then I was exhausted at the end of the day. I finally cleared out the last bits of my stuff in my old apartment, which was sad because I had so many awesome memories there this summer. I absolutely loved that apartment...but can I just say I TRULY appreciate my HUGE, air conditioned, bug and mouse free, clean, brand new, gorgeous suite. Oh and Chris' apartment, which has basically become my apartment - I love his kitchen. Signing off for now, time to watch a movie and SLEEP love love love, me
