Heat of Summer is Wearing Off

It's pretty hard to train when you sweat the mere THOUGHT of being outside. I dont' think Boston has ever been so hot - and that includes this summer's heat wave. I was going to go for a short ride today, just to get Mac in the fresh air and test out my new bike computer, but I couldn't. I ended up going to the Comm Ave fair with B and Davis, then going back to the suite and napping/uploading pics/hanging out with my roomie. And even then I was exhausted at the end of the day. I finally cleared out the last bits of my stuff in my old apartment, which was sad because I had so many awesome memories there this summer. I absolutely loved that apartment...but can I just say I TRULY appreciate my HUGE, air conditioned, bug and mouse free, clean, brand new, gorgeous suite. Oh and Chris' apartment, which has basically become my apartment - I love his kitchen. Signing off for now, time to watch a movie and SLEEP love love love, me

First Race Weekend

Sorry for the no blogging - I know my faithful readers are heartbroken it's been so long since I've written - HA. I think my mom and sister are the only people who read this on a regular basis...but my followers are *slowly* growing! Honestly, wish I had more to say though! I moved in a couple days ago into STUVI2 - a.may.zing. My room is huge, my random roommate, Nicole, is adorable, it has a/c, an incredible view, it's right next to fitrec and the dining hall..it's perfect. It's also next door to Chris' building - oh the convenience. I'm absolutely in love. From moving out of my old apartment I completely downsized. I gave away SO much old stuff/clothes/junk to goodwill. I'm really working on living simply. So I donated a bunch of old posters and stuff that really just crowd my space. I kept the important stuff, but it's nice having so little to move around. I feel like a boy. The past couple days have been awesome, though. Filled with catching up ...

I dropped him!

I am by far the world's worst girlfriend...ever. I forgot to blog about this earlier because it happened last week. Anyway, last week while Chris and I were outdoor rock climbing in W. Mass...I dropped him! He was almost 9 feet up on this cliff and he slipped, and I didn't catch him. What kind of girlfriend am I? He literally slid down the side of the cliff, got caught about a foot above the ground, swung into a tree, hit the cliff again, and fell on the ground. All while I just watched. It didn't even OCCUR to me that it was my fault until he was laying on his back gasping, "oh god. Ow." and laughing. Yes, laughing. I just kept thinking, "IT'S NOT FUNNY! I COULD HAVE KILLED YOU!" Thankfully, he was perfectly fine except the wind got knocked out of him and he has a scratch on his back and was covered in dirt. He wasn't even the least bit upset- he felt bad that I felt bad. It ended up with him apologizing to me. What the hell. That doesn't ev...

Till I Collapse

I ran 8.5 miles last night! Whew! It's a long way away from the marathon, and I'm a bit behind my 2 best girls and my manager...but I'm cruising at my own pace and 8.5 miles was a stretch for me. I only went to the Longfellow bridge - a loop which is about 6 miles from my aparment - but then as I came around to the BU boathouse where I need to make a left back onto the bridge to get to Comm Ave, I found myself still energized and feeling better than I did the first 5 miles, so I passed it up and kept going and added two more bridges. I kind of regretted it running back up the Comm Ave hill home, but after I felt awesome. When I got to CitySports, less than a half mile from my apt, I walked and started talking to this guy walking next to me. He asked what I was training for and said I had that, "triathlon" looking body. He said I looked really good - and not in a creepy way - and told me to keep it up, "mind over matter." He wished me luck and went into t...

Mister Mac

Well, I named my bike. Now I just have to wait until it gets here. Is it completely absurd I feel like I'm cheating on Doc Jones? I can't throw him away...I just can't. Chris and I are building a new bike together from some of his parts and naming it Junior Jones, in loving memory. Anyway, this new bike is completely worthy of taking the Doc's place...it's ridiculous how nice of a bike it is. I'm completely smitten once again. And how cute is the name Mister Mac? Mister Mac Mac Mac all dressed in black black black... or Mac Attack ...Mac the Tarmac Hit the road Mac! I have something about giving my bikes surnames...so I have to continue with that. Doctor Jones...Mister Mac... I like the nicknames that come along with it. I can just say, "the Mister and I are going out for a spin." just like I used to say, "Bonding with the Doctor." It adds mystery. I can't WAIT to welcome Mister Mac to his new home!

It's a Good Day

It's official!!! I ordered and put a down payment on my brand new 2011 carbon fiber Tarmac Comp - there are only 25 56cm bikes available in the country...and I got one!!! I'm stoked out of my mind. Problem is I have to wait until FRIDAY to get it...So I get Chris back and a new bike all in the same day. Friday will be a good day. Tonight Al and I walked around for almost 4 hours - okay well we talked for 2 hours in Mixx then we walked for two. Sometimes all you need is frozen yogurt, a summer night, and your very best friend by your side. love love love, me

Dr. Jones Pt II

So it's only about $500 more than I wanted to spend...but oh my. This bike is a dream to ride...I rode it up a hill and it practically pedaled for me. So I think if I do nothing but work the month of August, live off Ramen noodles, and not spend a penny on anything other than bike funds...I may be able to pull this one off. It would be worth it.
